The Best FPS On The App Store

This game is supremely better than any other FPS, or heck, any other GAME I have played on the iPod. The sheer enjoyment from seeing this beautiful game run on a mobile device is enough reason to buy it. I do have the new iPod Touch 4G, so I do know that it looks absolutely stunning on the Retina display. The multiplayer is wonderful and works flawlessly. I had no lag playing a couple matches this morning. You will not find a better Multiplayer experience on the iDevices right now. Modern Combat 2? But it right now. You won't be disappointed.

Gameloft has done it again

Gameloft not only nailed the exciting gameplay and seamless multiplayer experience envied by console developers, but did so by pushing the graphical and technical limits of the iphone, raising the bar for not only pocket first person shooters to come, but all first person shooters period. No one is better at delivering jaw-dropping idevice fps's than Gameloft...

I hate this game. Why? Because it is going to ruin my life. its that good. Playing it is like having awesome smack you in the face. The campaign is filled with dramatic dialogue (and funny pokes at infinity ward, such as stay frosty), and intense cinematic cutscenes smoothly transitioning into the awesome gameplay. The game itself runs at a very smooth frame rate (iPod touch 3rd), and doesn't seem to drop when guard towers explode or when you are bombarded by a squad of enemy fighters. Throughout the first mission, a partner of yours helps you navigate through a middle-eastern prison, and his animations are downright astounding. He will hold his pistol up when he is approaching a door that enemies may be behind, move out of your way when he is between you and an open corridor, and even take cover and blind fire to suppress enemies. The missions, while pretty much straightforward, are not as linear this time around, and there are multiple paths to take and weapons to find (if you look for them), depending on whether you want to take it stealthy or come from the back and shotgun your way around. One thing I really liked is that the game continued the story of the previous one, picking up where it left off and making sense almost immediately. Furthermore, the lighting is absolutely spectacular graphic-wise. No more is there that insane bloom effect found In recent gameloft titles such as asphalt 5, the lighting is dynamic and reflects off of your shiny new desert eagle depending on where you are.
But enough about the campaign, the multiplayer is where many will be spending the majority of their time. The maps are varied in environment and spacing, and while confusing at times as there is no mini map, are scattered with blood trails and other gorgeous textures. The multiplayer is great with minimal lag, and each of the weapons and perks feel extremely balanced based on type. Your not going to find the overpowered shotgun in the first game nor will you find a terrible submachine gun that has no range whatsoever. Furthermore, spawn camping is non-existant and the game does a good job of putting you close to the action. As for the kills, they feel right, and in all the matches i have played, not once have i had one of those "that's impossible, what the hell" moments many have become accustomed to in mw2. The games 72 levels will take you a good while to play through as well, but even if the game did not have the wonderfully implemented load out system like bf:bc 2, the multiplayer would still be loads of fun. The game online rarely drops in frame rate, and is great about migrating hosts in milliseconds when the previous one leaves. Sure, maybe the gameplay isn't the most original, or some of the enemies are able to shoot through giant concrete walls and kill you during the campaign, nor the controls for grenades will have you swapping more than throwing. These can be fixed in future updates. Because the core of the game is flawless.
